A music video I made back in 2014 for Rivers // Bad America…

The video was shot in a small photography studio using the Canon 600D DSLR and the lighting supplied to us in the studio which was designed for photography shoots (Soft boxes etc). The latex idea came from a series of pictures I had seen while using Pintrest, which I use for visual inspiration (as well as Tumblr). I thought the idea would work in conjunction with the lyrics that mention covering someone in your love or being covered in someone’s love.

The lyrics of the song also talk about becoming so intimate or connected with a person that you feel like you are being covered in their skin which also connects well with the imagery. I wanted the video to follow that development of making love or becoming intimate with someone. At first both parties or ad least one may be closed off or unsure of the other person, almost unwilling to share themselves physically with the other.

This barrier between the two slowly diminishes and the two metaphorically become one, transporting them into a state of ecstasy and euphoria which was the thinking behind the final section with the mixture of fluids and the female shape. It’s almost as if she is losing who she is and becoming one with another person. I wanted to focus on the female character as I felt it matched more with the music’s tone and of course the fact that the singer is female herself.

We witness the character lose herself to pleasure…
